We are hubbers now...

On 29th Apr 8:30pm, dear and I became offcially full pledged hubbers (ha ha.. starhub customers)... Dear originally had a handphone plan with them.. Last night, we added a new maxonline plan, cable TV plan, hse line and an additional mobile line under his name =P

For max online, we got the mid range plan... shld be enough for us... For cable TV, we took 3 basic grp which include news (a muz for dear cos of his work), chinese entertainment & english entertainment (i wanna this cos of CSI *grin*)... we took up the the sports channel too... as well as paid a one time fee for the Euro 2008 games... For all the above, we got a hse line free of charge =P

On top of all these, I also signed up a new mobile plan... 2.5 yrs ago since I changed my phone... Got back a samsung phone.. but this time, it's a pda phone =P model : i780... saw my colleague using it... thought it look nice... have yet to play with it yet.. BUt there several features that my colleagues have told me abt.. Built-in GPS navigation, MS Office Mobile,SMS, MMS, EMail, Instant Messaging blah blah blah... so excited abt the new phone... going to play with it tonight after I go home =P

Reno Update ... 29th Apr 2008 …

Yesterday was supposed to be the handover day from my ID to me... But, sigh... Things did not go as well as expected... In fact, I was quite disappointed at her time mgmt skill... Though, not entirely her fault...

Here's the whole thingy... End March : Schedule is out... Expected delivery date from ID is 26Apr. Abt a mth time required to do the reno... I was shocked, yet happy @ the speed of work. Double checked with my ID whether I can confirm my delivery of the furniture on 2nd May... She said "OK"....

Almost on a daily basis, we will visit the new hse and make sure that there is no delay... But things din really follow schedule... Hacking was delayed due to higher level of difficulty... But ID promised me that fabrication of the carpentry work is carrying out well... Confirm, double confirm and triple confirm with her abt the handover date before and after I fly and came back... Still @ 26Apr (Even on 24Apr, she was firmed)... Then when it was 25Apr, she called and dropped me a bomb... Her carpenter cannot deliver to her on 25Apr, so new handover date is 29Apr... Fine... Still got time to my furniture delivery date...

Yesterday on 29Apr, the real bomb drop... a list of outstanding items waiting for me ** Almost Fainted**...

Kitchen
- Kitchen handle on the cabinet under the sink is o/s
- One of the kitchen cabinet door is of different color
- Kitchen door knob is loose

Living Room
- Metal strips on feature wall is not in yet
- Mirror is not fixed up too
- 2 glass doors are not screwed up yet
- My built in shoe cabinets does not have extra holes yet
- The key holder not up yet

Study Room
- The middle drawer is missing... (apparently the drawer is too long... so having prob with wires)

Master Bedroom
- Mirror in the MBR toilet is missing
- Mirror in my WIW is not up yet
- Wire holes for the feature wall still not drilled yet

With all the above outstanding, how can my ID assured me that handover date is yesterday... ** Angry Gal**
And she even asked me to call my cleaners to do a spring cleaning today.. In the end, I had to postpone the cleaning to Thursday (having to pay extra cos it's PH) and her guys still need to come in on Thurs as well... Prob is I can't change my furniture delivery date now since it's too close... Almost vomit blood on the spot... My face had never been blacker...I'm now just praying that all can be done by Thursday... Am really praying hard... I guessed meanwhile, I just had to focus on packing...

Secret Gift from Mei Mei

My sister left a "secret present" for me & dear last night during my mum in-law bday celebration... Paste it on our pillow... So funnie... Can't really stand her jokes...

Monday night was my mum in-law chinese 大寿... We held a mini celebration for her... We had a buffet from Four Season... Bought a big cake for her from Angie The Choice too... Most of dear's relatives came... My parents, with my sis also attended the function... 1st time we held a bday celebration for mum in-law...Glad that she enjoyed herself...

Reno Update ... 28th Apr 2008 … (Counting down...2nd last day)

I'm counting down to the last few days of renovation... Went to the site on Monday night... Most of the things done... Left only bit of paint touch up and cleaning... The ID is going to hand over this evening... So excited =P

Happy Packing

Been busy with the packing of our room lately... Now our room is filled with boxes & baggages... The display shelves are now empty =P kept all the glass display items... wrapped them up in Quartz brochure... Ha ha ha... The hse is too ex for purchasing but at least the paper are useful...

I gave my bears a good wash too last weekend... Now hanging them out to dry... Hope they dry fast =P

Gifts from Santorini

1st day back @ work after such long leave.... So refreshed... So busy...

Went to distribute gifts to my colleagues... They are so excited abt my trip... One of my colleagues, Nana is getting married in June, so bought her a special gift from the "Love of Sea"... Glad that she loved it so much... Hope her found love will have no boundary, just like the "Love of Sea" =P

Going to lunch in tom @ the conference room... then gg to show my Greece pictures to them through projector... So 跨张 right... but special request and I dun mind it... So looking forward to that tom =P

Busy week ahead...

Today is Sunday... Oh my, we are going back to work tomorrow... after such long leave... Sigh, feel so "sian"... Expected to have a busy day tomorrow... or rather busy week ahead of us... Not sure if I'll be blogging that often... But I'll try =P

02nd May : Delivery of furnitures & electrical appliances...

Entire week : Working... Clearing emails... Packing... Unpacking.... Oh my... Can't imagine wat it'll be like... =P
But at least, wat i'll be doing will be happy =P ** I'll SURVIVE =P **

Reno Update ... 26th Apr 2008 …

26th is supposed to be the handover date from the ID to me... But alas... so delay in the carpentry work... So the handover date is being pushed to 29th... Hopefully all went well...

Went to the reno site on 26th...

Here's an update.... The lightings are all up, including all the points... The toilets are also completed, with the rain shower in, the glass door installed.... Saw lots of drawers on the floor, waiting to be installed... They are for the TV console, study table and the walk-in wardrobe...

The sliding door to the kitchen is up... Plan to buy some decal to "decorate" the door... Realised that there will be a hole between the kitchen and the living room... Had chk with my ID on wat we shld to abt it.. Not her fault... The hole is due to the "stupid" design of the kitchen by our housing govt... Hope there is a remedy.... Else, no choice... Guess we can still live with the hole... Ke ke ke, afterall I dun cook that much =P The study room is 90% completed... Now only left the drawers for the study table to be installed... Loved our study room =P

Our master bedroom is also near completion... the wall shelves and side tables are completed... All drawers in... Even the featured wall is completed... Now only left the walk-in wardrobe... the frame of the sliding door is up.. Now only pending the glass panel and the full mirror behind the door... The drawers are only installed halfway... Jia you, workers .... =P

The master carpenter is supposed to handover the hse to my ID tomorrow, on the 28th... Hope that materialized... I'll be praying hard... Will be dropping by the new hse after work tom... Hope I see what I wanna to see... Then i'll get my hse on 29th =P

So looking forward to it =P

Reno Update ... 24th Apr 2008 … (When I returned...)

Went to our new hse to check the renovation status on Thursday, after touching down and depositing our baggages @ my in-laws place... Having high anticipation... What we saw really pleased us....

In the living room, the featured wall is up... built-in shoes cabinets is near completion... the curtain tracks for the whole hse is put up... The lower kitchen cabinets is up... Skeletons of the top cabinets is up too... Study table is almost done except for the writing top and the drawers... Built-in cabinets is near to completion except some doors still pending to be fixed up...

In the master bedroom, the walk-in wardrobe is up... Now only pending the installation of the drawers... Featured wall and the toilet cabinet are half way done... the wall shelves & side tables are up, except that they are without drawers...

Quite satisfied with the overall progress....

Reno Update ... 16th Apr 2008 … (Before I Fly)

Went to check up the renovation status before going to the airport on 16th... Took these pictures... Quite a few updates from 2 days ago when I sent Dear to the airport... Not a bad progress... Some of the frames of the carpentry work are up...

Showed dear these pictures when I arrived @ Athens... He's delighted... Both of us were so excited and so looking forward to see our new hse when we came back =P

Hi everybody..... I'm back in S'pore... just touched down a couple of hours ago @ 5pm... Enjoyed ourselves a lot...

Going to be busy these few days... With the unpacking... with the house.... but all these are happy events... Will be updating abt the happening of my trip soon.... and my new hse renovation status soon... Look out for that...

Hi everybody... I'm now blogging from Changi Airport... Waiting to board my flight to Amsterdam in a while time... Gate just opened... So thinking of blogging just a small note before I proceed to board the plane...

The flight is gg to be long... Bought a 8days to entertain myself... 1st time travelling alone... Hope all went well...Tom @ 2pm singapore time, I'll reach Amsterdam... Moving on to Athens from there... So excited...

Hurray.... Today is 16/04/2008

Hurray... 16/04/2008 is finally here... I just checked in online a while a go... So excited...

My flight is @ 10.55pm tonight... Will be gg home direct after work (muz make sure there is no OT!!!).... My parents are coming to pick me up @ 7plus... Will be gg to my new hse for last min check... Then we'll proceed to airport for dinner =P

Dear texted me @ abt 1.30pm Sinapore timing yesterday... He just reached Amsterdam... It was cold there, abt 4 degrees... @ abt 7pm last night, dear text me again... He just touched down Athens... Temperature was okie, ranging between 11 to 20degress...Will be quite cooling... But the flight journey... What a long flight... He called me abt 8.30pm Sinapore timing after settling down in the hotel... This will be the timing that I'll reach Athens too... I'll be alone too...

Going to brainstorm later what I'm gg to do while transitting @ Amsterdam... okie... gg to start work now...had to finish all my reports before 5 this evening... muz 加油... =P... Hope I can find time to blog while @ airport too =P

21st Century Teenagers

My sis-in-law started her sch term again recently. This time round, her lessons start @ 8.30am... Back in our times, we will wake up exremely early to make sure that we reach school in time for the lesson... But this time round, teenagers behave quite differently... or shld i say very differently.... ** scratch head**

Here's what happened....

Instance 1
Class start @ 8.30am. Classmate A woke up late, so he took a cab from his home to sch... Total cab fare is S$30+++ . He reached class @ 9.30am. Being late, Teacher gave him a warning... He was blacklisted in the late comer list... Classmate A got angry at the teacher and demaned to know why he was marked...

Instance 2
Class start @ 8.30am. Classmate B, C, D etc etc was late... They only arrived in class between 8.31am to 9.00am... Being late, Teacher blacklisted them in the late comers list... Classmate B, C, D was uphappy @ the teacher's action... reason being they only late for a while...

Becos so many students were late and the teacher marked them in the late comer list.... Our dear students actually have intention to sign a petition to submit to MOE to 1st, remove their name from the list and 2nd to demand that the sch has a 15min grace period for morning classes...

What on earth is that???? If class start @ 8.30am... u better plan properly and be in class way before 8.30am... Students nowadays are so different... What grace period? What petition to MOE? They did wrong things (by being late) and yet demand others to change to suit them.... ** scratch head**, ** scratch more head** somemore complain to MOE.... wa ha ha ha.... what a joke....

Pls dun tell me these kids will be our future 国家的栋梁 !!!!! *Faint*

Athens... 1 more day left...

Dear left for Athens last night... Start to miss him already... Can't get to sleep at all last night... Not used to having the big bed all by myself... Think I'll lose my sleep again tonight... Never mind, drink more tonics... Ke ke ke... Tom night, I'll be off to Athens like dear... Can't wait =P

Reno Update ... 14th Apr 2008 …

Went down our new place with dear and my parents last night, before dropping dear off @ the airport.. Our raised platform is up... Happy 指数 ..... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... 5 ... 6 ... 7 ... 8 ... 9 ... 10 ...

Did up (for fun) a simulation of where our mattress and our side cupboard will be... SO exciting.... Wonder what progress will I see tonight =P

Reno Update ... 11th to 12th Apr 2008 …

More progress for our renovation... Yippe

1st round of painting completed for the entire house... satisfied with the color we had chosen... a mixture of earth tones and modern look... The electricians also started work and start installing the lights... Met up with the electricians on Saturday morning... Told them all the location of the lights... When we revisited the place at night, all lights were up... However, the lights in the living room and 2 smaller rooms are still pending wires connection... all should be completed by today =P

Zann told us to go for our holiday happily and leave everything to her... Quited satisfied and assured when i heard this.. She told me that if i'm free, I can drop by the house on wed night before I fly off... may be able to catch some glimpse of the capentery work... So looking forward to it... She also told me she will contact Mt Tay for me to finalise the measurement of the curtains.. All things taken care of... =P

I oso managed to contact a cleaning company to help us with post renovation cleaning... Wanna to do the cleaning myself initially but my colleagues told me that it's tough... esp since I came back from long leave and had lots of work to clear... dun waste effort at the cleaning part.. just pay a small amount and get someone else to do the job.. clean and time effcient =P... Spoken to the incharge... Mr Henry... he told me to contact him the day after my ID handed over the hse and after we cleared all the defects.. Told me that he can offer his guys immediate cos he got large free-lance cleaners...Can work any day and any time... All equipments and chemical provided too...

I'm glad i can settled most of the things before I fly... Now, am only waiting for my flight on wed nights =P

Boy to Men...

My little brother had grown up.... On 10th Apr 08, he was enlisted into army... into a place that will groom him from a boy to a man...

On that day, families & friends (up to a max of 5 pax) were allowed to attend the enlistment ceremony... I wanna to go so much so much... but I missed the chance cos of an impt meeting on same day... sigh.... in the end, my parents went with my sis & my youngest uncle... Heard that the place is like chalet... When willI have a chance to visit Tekkong? Maybe when I had a baby boy and when my baby boy grew up....

Ah boy is going fo a 6 days out field camp soon.. In order to encourage him to survive that 6 days, army required the family of each cadet to drop them a slow mail.... The mail will be distributed to them one of the day while they are outfield... We came up up with our own version.... Going to print this & sign @ the border... Then Zijian can put it in his locker too.... wonder wat is his reaction when he receive this =P

Had missed zijian though he only went into army for a couple of days.... went to buy bread and was abt to get his fav bun... then realised he won't be home until 2 weeks later.... Got some food from office and wanna to bring home for him to eat (the usual practice...) then again realised he not at home to finish the food... sigh... think i'm gg to miss him more... anyway, 2 years will pass very fast... this 2 years will be a gd training ground for him... Looking forward to see a grown up ah boy =P

Was waiting for dear in the car last night while he packed chicken wings for father... Nothing to do, so I took pics of the things in my car... Can definitely tell that this is a family car.... Ha ha ha... With my fav Chip & Dale... My 小叮当 seat cushion.... I loved my car... Going to push my limit and put more things in... =P Ha ha ha....

Reno Update ... 10th Apr 2008 …

Again, I visited my new house yesterday since it's just a stone throw away from where I'm staying now... It was abt 7 plus in the evening... The workers were still ard.. So happy.. They carrying out the painting work... All bedrooms done up already... Now left only the living area and kitchen...

My MBR is brown in color... matched our roman blinds and featured walls & headboard... So satisfied... My study room and the extra room is light yellow in color... quite soothing.... Thumbs up...

The workers also made good of the bedroom floor after hacking the walls... we were quite satisfied with it... Thumbs up for the progress... Hope my prayers will be answered.... More work completed before I fly...

Reno Update ... 07th to 09th Apr 2008 …

Visited my renovation site… Quite disappointed to find out that there is no progress since last Saturday…

Contacted my ID immediately… Asked her how come there is no progress and expressed our concern about the delay in hand-over date…She assured me that there will be no delay in the final handover date. Current delay is only on the painting work, which she also assured me that painting would be quite fast to complete… Rest of the things like grills, glass door and all the carpentry are in progress of fabrication in the factory… I checked with dear and one of my colleagues… They think time line shld not be a prob… Think I’m most prob just being paranoid…Hope to see some progress before I fly off to Greece…

Went to survey the surrounding of my block… Quite pleased with it… Very condo like…Here’s some pics for you to enjoy =P

Counting Down....

So many events to count down to for the next couple of weeks... So happy... Here's the 4 events on the top of my list...

Athens : Next week, Today... Dear will be on his flight to Athens... 2 days later, I'll be on my flight to Athens too.... will be joining him on Thursday... Then we shall make our way to the famous Santorini to spent a weekend there (19th Apr)...

Our Home : 2 more weekends (12th Apr & 26th Apr) in my in-laws place before I get to spend my 1st weekend in my new home... So excited... Gonna to collect keys on 26th Apr... Do some cleaning up... then all my furnitures and electrical applicances to be delivered on 2nd May....then we are officially staying on our own... Yippee....

Bonus/Increment : Pending all the increase in income sources to materialise... Increment amt is still under negotiation... wonder when that will be done... Bonus will be announced in May during the release of the annual results and paid out in July... Hope the amt is "fat" this year =P

House warming : Going to have house warming in May, Jun & July... Dates not fixed yet... But given the small hse that we have, decided to tentatively split the house warming into 3 portions... One for relatives... one for friends @ the workplace and the last one for friends in school...

Need to conserve my energy and get myself ready for all the events upcoming... 加油... 加油...

New Shopping Center [To Us...]

We visited Central last wkend... 1st time Dear and I went to that shopping mall... Think the mall had been there for quite some time... But being the mountain tortoises, we hardly stepped outside our usual hangout places like Orchard, Suntec, Marina Sq etc etc... If not for Ah Ling's bday celebration, not sure when we'll step our foot into that mall...

Place was relatively big... While waiting for our frenzs to arrive, I managed to do some minor shopping.... really minor one... Just 1 shop =P... managed to buy 1 pair of shoes... Nice nice... only cost S$9.90... Told dear that I'll be going back there again after our Athens trip... Going to buy more shoes to fill up my built in shoe cabinets... Otherwise, shoe cabinet will be too empty... Ke ke ke...

Had dinner @ Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe... Food is not that bad... But limited choice and a little too pricey... Location is gd though, right beside Singapore River... Will be trying out other restaurants there the next time we visit the mall....

Daddy Birthday Dinner

Daddy turned 57 last Sunday.... However, becos Mummy went back M'sia for "Qing Ming", we postponed the celebration of daddy's birthday to yesterday instead...

We went for dinner @ Vienna International Buffet, located @ United Square... The place offers over 150 varieties of food, including local favourites & authentic soups, Japanese and Western cuisine, Teppanyaki and also their special mouthwatering appetizers and desserts...

Some of the dish includes...
Chinese Food : Black Pepper/ Spicy Crabs, Tim Sum, Oats Prawn, Vegetables, Tofu, Tim Sum, Sharksfin Soup, Buddha Jumps Over The Wall, Herbal soup... etc etc... Western Food : Oysters, Crabs, Prawns, Mussels, Lobster Salad, Ham, Roast Beef ... etc etc... Japanese Food : Sashimi, Cold Noodles, Sushi ...etc, etc ... Teppanyaki : Spaghetti, Shisamo, Salmon, Dory, Beef, Lamb, Chicken... etc, etc... Desserts : American Cheese Cake, Blackforest Cake, Mango Passion, Tiramisu, Fudge, Dragon fruit, Kiwi, Honeydew Melon, Watermelon, Grapes, Apple ... etc etc...

We had a fun time @ the restuarant... Look @ all our smiles... Night well spent... Good food, good occassion =P

Reno Update ... 03rd to 5th Apr 2008 …

Went to the reno site over the wkend... Quite happy when we saw the progress... Here's an update :

False ceiling is completely up in living room & master bedroom... Workmanship quite well done... The aircon pipings are well camouflaged into the false ceiling... Very happy abt it... Only outstanding false ceiling is along the passage way from the living room to the bedrooms... 加油... 加油...


The workers did up the partition that's going to separate the master bedroom, study room and the passageway... Now we can really foresee the area used for walk-in wardrobe... My walk-in wardrobe is going to be huge... I'm so happy abt it... Hope I can see the end results soon...

The next progress is on the kitchen entrance... Wet work almost done... The workers re-laid all the tiles in and outside the kitchen...on the floor as well as on the walls... Very satisfied with the work... the tiles are exactly the same... The "make good" portion is good... Well done, guys =P

Next update is not on the reno.... The playround below our flat is almost done... Can see most of the "play facilities"... Very nicely done up too... Good for kids in future... Our lightings, kitchen sanitary and big bathroom accessories were delivered last Sat morning... Did a chk on all the items... Good condition... Hope to see the items installed in the house soon =P

The guy that we engaged to do up the curtains also came by on Saturday morning to take measurement of our windows... Mr Tay is recommended by our ID... Very satisfied with his services... Initially, we planned to engage someone from M'sia... but becos of the escape of the JI guy, we decided to give up on travelling to M'sai... Oso, we were too lazy... In the end, we decide to spend a little more to get work done... The extra $$ we forked out really brought along services... Mr Tay will bring everything to us @ our new hse, instead of us going all the way to his shop to meet him... Decided on day & night curtains for our living room... Roman blinds for all our 3 bedrooms... Roman blinds by default costs much more and we chose the kind for easy maintenance...so much more $$ involved... But dear & I liked the feel of the blinds... Can't wait to see the impact of our choice...

Will be going down to see the progress this 2 days... Update you guys again... So excited now...

Birthday Surprise !!!

Today is Pet birthday... We din celebrate it for her last year cos she din told us abt her birthday... This year, we make it a point to rem it.. We knew she loved food, so we bought a whole pack of food from Marks & Spencers, then wrap it up as a hamper for us... Did it with Mabel in the morning... Too bad huh.. The 2 of us can be professional hamper wrapper liao..

She had a shock when we deliver the present to her during lunch.. She turned instant red... even mention that next year today, she is going to apply for leave.. So funny... Can see that she really loved the food... Glad she liked it =P

Reno Update ... 01st & 2nd Apr 2008 …

According to the renovation schedule, the false ceiling for my new house is supposed to be up and completed by 2nd Apr… When we went to visit the site, the false ceiling has yet to be completed… However, we were not that disappointed… Dear told me that he expected longer time spent on the ceiling than on painting [cos 3 days has been scheduled for painting…]

Anyway, the layout and structure of the false ceiling had already been done… Dear said that is more impt cos is the foundation… Overlaying it with beautiful board would be easy… ** grin grin ** Took some pictures of the false ceiling foundation…. Quite satisfied… At least there is progress…

In my master bedroom toilet, the ugly sink had been removed…Saw it at one corner of the house.. We had previously bought a bowl basin to replaced it… So looking forward to seeing the end results… Moving on to the kitchen, the piping for the sink is done up… The light switch had also been relocated to the side where our sliding door will be… Things are falling into place… So happy…

This weekend will be busy, busy, busy… Going to receive delivery of my lightings and kitchenwares on Saturday… Made arrangement for the curtain man to go down to take measurement this Sunday… and also to view samples… My ID promised to send my 3D drawings by this weekend too…. So looking forward to both days... =P

From today to end of the week, the workers are supposed to carry out painting works and acid washing & cleaning of the debris of the whole house… Will be monitoring the progress closely…Will update you guys promptly on my renovation….
