Early Chinese New Year Shopping…

Last Saturday was light up ceremony at Chinatown… We usually avoid Chinatown during that day cos it’ll be super crowded.. But this year, we got no choice.. We were all packed

Last weekend to CNY (02/02/08) : Supposed to be doing all the spring cleaning
2nd last weekend to CNY (26/02/08) : Having reunion dinner with CL frenzs
3rd weekend (19/02/08) : This is the one just went past….
4th weekend (12/02/08) : Went down to meet our Interior Designer all the way in the West.. then late link up with our couple frenz for a tennis and bowling match over WII…

Looking at the above schedule, we decided to go down Chinatown on 19/02.. which is exactly the same day the light up ceremony… Was scared of the crowd but we decided to brave to the “storm”…. Initially, we planned to park and ride but imagining the amount of things we wanna to buy, we gave that idea up.. we dun wan to be carry huge bags of food on the train… So heavy + so unglamorous … ha ha ha….

In the end, we drove to Chinatown town via Raffles Place (from Lau Pa Sat side).. Traffic condition was not as bad as what we thought it will be… we parked at the old shop houses, which is only behind Chinatown Point.. It was only a short walk to the shops that we wanna to get our things from… Finding a parking slot is also not easy.. but lady luck is our side… =P We got a space at the top open space level, but it was just the stairs… so rain or shine. We were not scared… The reason why we chose this car park was also becos of the exit… The exit will lead us all the way straight to CTE, avoiding all the close roads.. double beneficial….

Chinatown itself was crowded… There were lots of small stages on the road… The road were closed, so the crowd were allowed to be on the roads…there were many small performances, like Chinese dance, Indian dance.. there was also Korean dance, with the nice and happy theme song from the Korean drama, Princess Hour…

We din really stay to watch the performance.. We were there to do purchasing and not shopping.. What’s the difference? As per dear, shopping = look look see see but not sure what to buy… Purchasing = know what to buy and just go there and buy, without look look see see… We were fast.. went into the shop and bought all the ba gua required.. there was surprising no queues too… must be we too early this year…

After we bought all the things, we went to fetch our car.. at the car park, we even managed to catch glimpse of the fireworks… I was happy..1st, din expect any fireworks.. then we managed to watch it since we were on the top storey of the mulit storey car park.. double blessing..

That night was a busy night.. but we managed to get all the things we wanna… Ba Gua… Bird Nest.. Brand essence… Not bad… We din waste a single minute..
Mission accomplished + Double blessing from the fireworks.. Hope this means a good start to a
