Reno Update ... 03rd to 5th Apr 2008 …

Went to the reno site over the wkend... Quite happy when we saw the progress... Here's an update :

False ceiling is completely up in living room & master bedroom... Workmanship quite well done... The aircon pipings are well camouflaged into the false ceiling... Very happy abt it... Only outstanding false ceiling is along the passage way from the living room to the bedrooms... 加油... 加油...


The workers did up the partition that's going to separate the master bedroom, study room and the passageway... Now we can really foresee the area used for walk-in wardrobe... My walk-in wardrobe is going to be huge... I'm so happy abt it... Hope I can see the end results soon...

The next progress is on the kitchen entrance... Wet work almost done... The workers re-laid all the tiles in and outside the kitchen...on the floor as well as on the walls... Very satisfied with the work... the tiles are exactly the same... The "make good" portion is good... Well done, guys =P

Next update is not on the reno.... The playround below our flat is almost done... Can see most of the "play facilities"... Very nicely done up too... Good for kids in future... Our lightings, kitchen sanitary and big bathroom accessories were delivered last Sat morning... Did a chk on all the items... Good condition... Hope to see the items installed in the house soon =P

The guy that we engaged to do up the curtains also came by on Saturday morning to take measurement of our windows... Mr Tay is recommended by our ID... Very satisfied with his services... Initially, we planned to engage someone from M'sia... but becos of the escape of the JI guy, we decided to give up on travelling to M'sai... Oso, we were too lazy... In the end, we decide to spend a little more to get work done... The extra $$ we forked out really brought along services... Mr Tay will bring everything to us @ our new hse, instead of us going all the way to his shop to meet him... Decided on day & night curtains for our living room... Roman blinds for all our 3 bedrooms... Roman blinds by default costs much more and we chose the kind for easy maintenance...so much more $$ involved... But dear & I liked the feel of the blinds... Can't wait to see the impact of our choice...

Will be going down to see the progress this 2 days... Update you guys again... So excited now...

Birthday Surprise !!!

Today is Pet birthday... We din celebrate it for her last year cos she din told us abt her birthday... This year, we make it a point to rem it.. We knew she loved food, so we bought a whole pack of food from Marks & Spencers, then wrap it up as a hamper for us... Did it with Mabel in the morning... Too bad huh.. The 2 of us can be professional hamper wrapper liao..

She had a shock when we deliver the present to her during lunch.. She turned instant red... even mention that next year today, she is going to apply for leave.. So funny... Can see that she really loved the food... Glad she liked it =P

Reno Update ... 01st & 2nd Apr 2008 …

According to the renovation schedule, the false ceiling for my new house is supposed to be up and completed by 2nd Apr… When we went to visit the site, the false ceiling has yet to be completed… However, we were not that disappointed… Dear told me that he expected longer time spent on the ceiling than on painting [cos 3 days has been scheduled for painting…]

Anyway, the layout and structure of the false ceiling had already been done… Dear said that is more impt cos is the foundation… Overlaying it with beautiful board would be easy… ** grin grin ** Took some pictures of the false ceiling foundation…. Quite satisfied… At least there is progress…

In my master bedroom toilet, the ugly sink had been removed…Saw it at one corner of the house.. We had previously bought a bowl basin to replaced it… So looking forward to seeing the end results… Moving on to the kitchen, the piping for the sink is done up… The light switch had also been relocated to the side where our sliding door will be… Things are falling into place… So happy…

This weekend will be busy, busy, busy… Going to receive delivery of my lightings and kitchenwares on Saturday… Made arrangement for the curtain man to go down to take measurement this Sunday… and also to view samples… My ID promised to send my 3D drawings by this weekend too…. So looking forward to both days... =P

From today to end of the week, the workers are supposed to carry out painting works and acid washing & cleaning of the debris of the whole house… Will be monitoring the progress closely…Will update you guys promptly on my renovation….

The Quartz

Went to The Quartz showroom recently… No intention to buy any private properties… Just for fun, that’s all =P

The Quartz is a 99-year leasehold quality condominium located right next to the Buangkok MRT station. Facilities of the condominium include a sky gym, a sky bridge, secret gardens at selected levels, a “floating” clubhouse raised above the central pool area, tennis courts, a basketball practice court, barbeque areas, a children’s playground and a foot reflexology area. Wow… sounds so nice….

The unit, when purchased also comes with minimum renovation like flooring (tiles for the living room & kitchen & timber skirting for the rooms), kitchen top & cabinets, air-conditioning and electrical fitting… There are 2 kitchens already done up for you…one wet and one dry (sounds a lot to me since I seldom cook…) Basically, when the handover of keys is done, the owner just need to purchase furniture & electrical appliances and they can move in already…
When the sales staff spoke to me and dear, I was like “wow” here… “wow” there… So “动心” lei… until the price came….

Minimum cost of a unit is ard S$700k… Square area is only 96sqm…. Only 6sqm bigger than my atrina unit.. yet the price is like 3 times more…. What turns me off is the amount of cash cum CPF u needs to put in upfront… 5% cash of purchase price …. Which cost more than my car..another 15% cash and/or CPF of purchase price in dun rem how weeks time…. Which amount to purchase of 2 full license plate car

Almost fainted on the spot… Luckily dear caught hold of me… This is my 1st encounter with private property… So interesting yet “scary”… Wa ha ha ha

29th & 31st Mar 2008…

Went down to the site on Saturday morning to discuss with Zann abt the location of the electrical points… Managed to firm up most of the things… Decided on the air conditioning too, the location and the piping… Took up a 4-in-1 inverter air-con system… Much lower than the S$4,000 we budgeted for… Another saving… Cool…

Revisited our house again on the night of 29th & 31st Mar 2008… Air-conditioning system is up… Super efficient… The worker completed all piping too =P.. Saw the condenser in the air-con ledge too… Felt so satisfied that progress is good… In the kitchen, the gas installation and water piping almost done up… In the living room and bedrooms, the lighting points are done up too… Am now waiting for the false ceiling to be completed… Gonna to visit the place again tonight.. hope to see the false ceiling up =P Painting will be next in line…

Jovan 1st Month Celebration

Lin Ling’s son, Jovan turned 1 mth old on 28th Mar 2008. The celebration was held on Saturday (29th), at their house. We went down their place at ard 4pm… The place was crowded, with lots of the couple’s close friends…

Upon entering the house, there was Jovin, welcoming us… We also went to peep at Jovan, who was having his golden sleep… Saw Juan’s daughter, Chloe for the 1st time too, despite viewing lots of her pics in Facebook.. She is adorable… The baby clan is growing among the CLDDs family… Yuling is also pregnant, with another baby boy on the way… Next year CNY, there will be 5 babies in all… Jovin, Jovan, Chloe, Justin and his baby brother… Guessed the list will be growing still…

We stayed till quite late and had dinner with the couple… Lin Ling was busy with the kids and the 2 hubbies went out to buy dinner… I was entertaining myself with Wii, Cooking Mama… Getting excited & addicted to the game… Managed to uncover the technique to unshelled the prawns and handle the squids.. Looking forward to getting a set and placed it in our new home =P

Enjoyed the gathering that day… Hope to meet up with the couple before we fly off to Greece… Looking forward to the next gathering too.. Our house warming, perhaps… =P

Date with Sim Siang Choon

Finally, dates are finalized for our renovation. Managed to call all the relevant parties to reschedule all our delivery dates… We went down to Sim Siang Choon on Saturday to pay up the balance of the outstanding invoice amount. Also, we purchased some of our bathroom accessories… Satisfied with all the work done…

28th Mar 2008… 2nd Day of Renovation

Visited the “renovation” site the next day again… Reinforce concrete for both the wall removed… The contractor did some wet works… Yippee… The workers even did up the cement base for the kitchen cabinets… Progress is good…

27th Mar 2008… 1st Day of Renovation

Renovation finally began… On 27th Mar 08, Thursday, the contractor hacked down our kitchen entrance wall and the wall divider between the master bedroom & the study room… All done, in the presence of the professional engineer (and that costs us $$$)…

Went down to the site to take a look… Hacking completed… Now pending the removal of the reinforce concrete … So excited to see the paper by HDB being put up @ our unit… and the evidence of the commencement of renovation for our house… Can’t wait for it to be done…
