CNY goodies

Yummy yummy... chk out the things at my mum place...

My uncle works in the factory that produces all the CNY goodies.. On the wee hours of CNY eve, the company will go ard all the NTUC in S'pore and packed back all the goodies.. Then they will sell it to those local shops at a lower price.. Since the quantity will usually be high, uncle will bring some for us... This yr, he brought over 37 cans of CNY goodies.. Oh my god... I took some cans home.. Bro and sis took some to their offices.. Here's what left behind...

Oh, the basket of Brand bird nest and chicken essence is complimentary from me & dear.. not from the factory =P

1st Red Packet in 2008

Visited Jazz at her house on Sunday morning… She had taken long leave to go back to Malaysia to celebrate CNY.. Wanted to give the kids red packets so dropped by her place for a while..

When we arrived, were told that Will is sleeping.. Went downstairs to see him and realized that he had woken up.. but he din cry and make a big fuzz… Looked like we are welcomed guests =P When dear gave Little Will the red packet, he actually smiled.. Lovely boy…

We took turn carrying him.. Will is at 4 mths old and I was actually a little scared when I carried him.. afraid that his neck is not that strong.. But my worries are extra.. At 4 mths old, he is actually quite strong..

After entertaining Will for a while, Will went off to have his milk milk… Lunch time for him.. We entertained ourselves by chit chatting… Jazz showed us her actual day wedding photos.. We missed the event becos we went Europe.. The pics were very nice takem.. I even joked to dear that the photographer really knew “how to enjoy himself”.. Some of the pics taken were of pretty gals and some of the cleavage of the girls… hmm.. wondering what is the photographer thinking..

Jazz also showed us her “pregnant mummy” album.. Apparently, she went to took studio photos when she is pregnant with her hubby… Looked very nice… very sexy.. but not cheap.. She told us that the album with make up and hairdo costs S$1,800… I almost fainted… She is also very daring too even that she needs to bear her whole tummy in order to show the pregnant stomach…

She also took up a baby package at S$4,000… where the studio will take the pics of the baby every month and present it in an album.. supposedly to capture the baby’s growth… Currently, Jazz is happily taking pics of the baby and sending the pics to the professional.. Each mth, there will be abt 200 over pics and they will do it up in a scrapbook for her.. this is not very cheap too… Abt S$200 per mth… Was telling dear that he could pay me and I’ll do up both the photos and the scrapbook =P

Spent a nice morning with Jazz and Will… Looking forward to seeing them again.. Will will have grown so much bigger then =P

CNY Festive Mood

This year CNY seem a little too quiet…. Or is it just my gut feel?

Went down couple of weeks to Chinatown… Crowd was manageable.. Most impt thing is that there is no queue at 美珍香.. Dear and I bought what we wanted and we left.. Convinced myself that we must be too early…

Read from the papers that there is a big war going on in Toa Payoh, at the usual big CHY pasar malam.. The vendors are all cutting prices to sell their new year goodies.. Dear and I happily went down last week, hoping to catch some festive mood.. We were thinking there muz be a big crowd given that this is the last weekend before we welcome the Rat year.. but then, to our horror, there is no more pasar malam… Oh my god, TP looks so so quiet without the market..

Later chked with Lin Ling and discovered that the market was closed 2 weeks back.. Is business really that good that all the stocks are sold or is it the other way round? Biz too bad, so the vendors had to cease operation earlier in order to minimize losses? We were quite sad that the market is gone but we entertained ourselves quite a bit.. Shopping at TP is quite enjoyable…

At my place, things are also quieter.. Shops now are not allow to display new year items.. Make the whole place look so dull.. but then rules are rules… I guessed, safety comes first… This year will be the last year that I spent CNY at dear hse..

Next year, we will have our own places and when it comes to CNY shopping, we’ll buying things for own home.. So looking forward towards it =P

Where are my keys?

I’m going to go crazy soon…. The long wait is still not over yet…

Dear made an attempt to call customer service yesterday to ask abt our flat and the tentative key collection time… You see, dear is having his annual ICT for 2 weeks, starting end Feb and ending only in 1st week of March… So hopefully the key collection is before his ICT.. Also dear is going for his sale conference in mid April.. Hope to join him there too.. So hope to move into our new place before mid April.. Looking at all the dates, we die die also have to collect the keys by end Feb… Hope my prayers are heard…

But the call centre gave him a duh answer… that the contractor haven gave the keys to HDB yet.. rem reading from the forum that this is the standard answer that they will give when pple call in… How I wish that they are more kind and disclose a little info to us…

Was browsing through the forum yesterday and discovered that more pple for my side block are getting their keys on 12 Feb and 13 Feb and some 18 Feb… Was grumbling to dear abt it…When is our turn? Wat’s more, there is this girl that I not really close to keep coming to me and updating me abt her renovation progress… Oh my god, can’t she just stop talking abt it… It’s hurting me…

Now dear forbid to keep closely to the forum.. Said it is putting wrong things in my head and that’s why I in such a foul mood… But then how can I not follow the forum closely.. I really anxious abt the keys… and guess that’s the only mean to do it…

So looking forward to seeing a letter from HDB… Keys, keys, where are you?

1st Reunion Dinner 2008

Saturday was a great day spent...

We went out early so that we could do some last minute shopping... Managed to buy 2 new tops and 1 new skirt for the new year.. actually, I won't be going to lots of places to "拜年"... but I just simply could not resist how nice the clothes looked on me.. hee hee hee... so happy.. and oh, dear foot the bill for me.. tks dear =P

I also dropped by inouvi to trim my eyebrow... my beautician did a lousy job, so have to find a professional to do it... loved my eyebrow after the trimming.... and the best part of it, i only got it done at 10 bucks... tks to my UOB lady card =P

Dinner took place at Joaquim, Suntec Convention Hall Level 1, with dear's CL frenzs from JC... This was our traditional reunion dinner.. Every year before CNY, the whole grp of us from CLDDs wld meet up for dinner... This sort of signify the long lasting friendship that we all have =P

It was a great night... Really envy the friendship... They are old frenzs who have known each other since 1994 (when all of them were at JC1) and still continue to remain so close in 2008 (when all of them are hitting the big 3).... Now there is even the 2nd generation... with the Chairman as Jovin and the Vice Chairman as Justin... Chloe as the Secretary and Jovan as the Treasurer... (oh, in case you guys are wondering why, the ranking is in accordance of the age..).. wonder who is next in the line...

All of us had so much fun chit chatting... of course, the 2 babies entertained us a lot too... Jovin, with her new vocabulary amused us all... All the "fire", "smelly", "fish", "light" etc etc etc vocab made us all so impressed with her new sch... the little princess is improving fast.. Justin is not as shy as he used to be when we met him during x'mas... Though he seldom talked, he still warmed our heart with all the laughter... All tks to Ah Bao with her "monkey faces"...

Getting the babies to take a group photo tog proved hard... When Justin is looking into the camera, Jovin is not.. When Jovin is.. Justin is not... Sigh... But at least we had a grp photo taken with all pple in... At least no babies are crying...

After dinner, we were brainstorming on where to go... With the babies ard, we were quite restricted on where we can go.. We had to give our usual hangout place like ktv a miss... In the end, we decided to drop by Marina Mandarin Hotel Lounge for a drink... The place was a great hang out location... With a cuppa in hand and music, complimentary from a live band at the lounge, what can I say anymore.. Dear loved the place so much that we decide to include this place as one of the place we will visit when there is a special occasion..

The night ended with all of us making plans to visit Lin Ling's hse for
拜年 on the 3rd day of CNY.. So fast, we are going to celebrate 2008 CNY soon... Next year this time, we will have Chloe and Jovan with us for the reunion dinner and CNY 拜年... So excited... I love crowds =P

Early Chinese New Year Shopping…

Last Saturday was light up ceremony at Chinatown… We usually avoid Chinatown during that day cos it’ll be super crowded.. But this year, we got no choice.. We were all packed

Last weekend to CNY (02/02/08) : Supposed to be doing all the spring cleaning
2nd last weekend to CNY (26/02/08) : Having reunion dinner with CL frenzs
3rd weekend (19/02/08) : This is the one just went past….
4th weekend (12/02/08) : Went down to meet our Interior Designer all the way in the West.. then late link up with our couple frenz for a tennis and bowling match over WII…

Looking at the above schedule, we decided to go down Chinatown on 19/02.. which is exactly the same day the light up ceremony… Was scared of the crowd but we decided to brave to the “storm”…. Initially, we planned to park and ride but imagining the amount of things we wanna to buy, we gave that idea up.. we dun wan to be carry huge bags of food on the train… So heavy + so unglamorous … ha ha ha….

In the end, we drove to Chinatown town via Raffles Place (from Lau Pa Sat side).. Traffic condition was not as bad as what we thought it will be… we parked at the old shop houses, which is only behind Chinatown Point.. It was only a short walk to the shops that we wanna to get our things from… Finding a parking slot is also not easy.. but lady luck is our side… =P We got a space at the top open space level, but it was just the stairs… so rain or shine. We were not scared… The reason why we chose this car park was also becos of the exit… The exit will lead us all the way straight to CTE, avoiding all the close roads.. double beneficial….

Chinatown itself was crowded… There were lots of small stages on the road… The road were closed, so the crowd were allowed to be on the roads…there were many small performances, like Chinese dance, Indian dance.. there was also Korean dance, with the nice and happy theme song from the Korean drama, Princess Hour…

We din really stay to watch the performance.. We were there to do purchasing and not shopping.. What’s the difference? As per dear, shopping = look look see see but not sure what to buy… Purchasing = know what to buy and just go there and buy, without look look see see… We were fast.. went into the shop and bought all the ba gua required.. there was surprising no queues too… must be we too early this year…

After we bought all the things, we went to fetch our car.. at the car park, we even managed to catch glimpse of the fireworks… I was happy..1st, din expect any fireworks.. then we managed to watch it since we were on the top storey of the mulit storey car park.. double blessing..

That night was a busy night.. but we managed to get all the things we wanna… Ba Gua… Bird Nest.. Brand essence… Not bad… We din waste a single minute..
Mission accomplished + Double blessing from the fireworks.. Hope this means a good start to a

Spa Getaway

It’s been quite some since we last visited Spa Village. We were so busy with the entire Bangkok massage getaway and x’mas celebration in Dec, so could only afford some time in Jan. Planned for a special treatment this time round…

Here’s what we had…

1st 30 minutes…
Hydrotherapy Bath…Both of us were soaked in this big Jacuzzi bath tub for 30 mins. The bath was that of green tea milk. Supposed to be good for skin… The tub was filled with bubble.. I loved them…. I defined these bubbles as the kind that you always see in movies but could never get it when you tried it in the hotel room kind… Felt so refreshed after the bath.. Dun even wan to get up… ke ke ke

2nd 1 hour and 30 minutes…
Dear had his usual… 1-hour de-stress back and shoulder massage, followed by his favorite 30 minutes foot reflexology. The massage on his calves really pleased him to heaven… ha ha ha

I had this 1 hour and 30 minutes promotional treatment, known as aromatic renewal.. when it comes to massage and spa, I’m the more adventurous.. You will see me trying all kind of treatments.. this time round, it’s the aromatic renewal.. This treatment is supposed to eliminate toxins in your body… With aromatherapy oils, firm pressure and gentle strokes for the entire body, this massage is supposed to get one rejuvenated for the brand new year ahead. I don’t know about the brand new year ahead thingy.. but I sure felt more energized… =P

We both loved the massage… we even fell asleep.. hope we din snored… ke ke ke
Looking forward to our next massage trip… Spa Village.. Kenko…Or my new found interest… Fish spa… will update u guys next time if I really vist the place =P
