Gambling Night

Visited Sam (dear colleague)’s house on Sunday evening in Bedok..

The hse is huge.. It is a 3 storey high.. They called this kind of hse as town house cos it has both the characteristics of a landed property as well as a condominium.. The hse is standing by itself, so it is like that of a landed property… But Sam has 4 other neighbors, living beside him.. the 5 units form a cluster and shared the parking slots and also a common swimming pool in front of the units..so like condominium style too…They spent quite a bit on renovation too… but I muz say the place really looks expensive…There are 4 bedrooms in the house.. one for Sam’s parents.. the other for him & Julie.. One for the brother and the last one for the sister and her family who occasionally will be sleeping in.. Hmm.. so in future, where does Sam’s kids sleep? Ke ke…Just a thought..

Focus of the night was not Sam’s hse.. I just found it nice so thought of sharing… Limelight of the night was asset restructuring session.. A.k.a. gambling time.. Pls pardon the banker language.. they were even going to bring out funds transfer form that night…

We started off the night with blackjack.. I din played cos I dun wan to dilute dear’s winning.. (** High hopes **)….Dear won a bit from there.. all in denominator of 2 bucks… There was a time when dear got a blackjack…his only time too… then the banker got 15points.. So all void.. Damn it… After a while, we started to play In Between… which I can is more exciting…

This is how the game goes.. Every one will contribute $2 to the common pot… Then we go 1st round distributing Card A.. Then 2nd round, distributing Card B.. starting from the 1st person.. After receiving both Card A & B, faced up.. the person is to choose whether to pick Card C.. Rule of the game is that Card C must be any number between Card A & Card B… If Card A & B is very close by, the player can choose to void that game.. If the player decide to play, he will call out an amount within the common pot of $$, say S$50 .. If Card C is opened, revealing a number between Card A & B, the player can withdraw S$50 from the pool… If Card C is not within Card A & B and does not equal to Card A & B, the player will lose S$50 and this amt will be contributed to the common pot.. If the player draws Card C and Card C hit the pole (I.e. is equal to either Card A or B), the player has to contribute double to the common pot, in this case S$100…

The game started on high note with one of dear colleague having Queen and As as his 2 pole cards…We thought it is not difficult to get a card that ranges from 2 to Jack… So we “encouraged” him to call out all the amt in the common pot which is S$26… He thought he can collect the $$ but when the 3rd card is flipped open… all of us fell off the chairs.. Card 3 is a Queen.. So instead of winning S$26, he contributed S$52 instead… That’s not all.. the same thing happen to him twice in a roll…No luck huh… Another colleague’s hubby even worse.. got a Kings and 2… Thought it will be easy to get anything from 3 to Queen.. SO he called out S$118….which is the total amt in the common pot… When the 3rd card is flipped open… all of our jaws dropped… he got an As… The game took his height when the pot of $$ got bigger… It was a fun and exciting game…

Luckily for us, dear won quite q fair bit… S$120….ke ke ke.. that’s the combined power and luck of snake and rooster.. I supposed next gambling session will be in 2009…. Hope winning streak still continue… Huat Ah… Ke ke ke

Keys collection date is set... 26 Feb 2008...

Hurray... We got our appt date to collect the keys to our love nest... Finally... Phew

I guessed things really worked after my "夺命连环" calls went out.. I called loan dept early this morning and asked abt my loan status.. Told them that they were supposed to get back to me.. After a while (guess they were chking their system), the officer told me my loan is processed and approved. Immediately, I chked my E-services and found my status to be updated.. It was on 28Feb...

I was contemplating of changing it to 22nd, so I called my CSO.. Sigh.. no more vacancy... Was told to wait till end of the day for her to get back to me.. Me, being very auntie, was thinking.. No fish, prawn also can.. If no 22nd, at least got 26th.. still better than 28th... so i changed my appt date online... To 26th Feb.. Luckily i did that.. Cos the 26Feb got no m0re morning slot after I amended mine... That evening, my CSO called me back and said really no more vacancy.. SIgh, no choice already... Guessed dear has to take time off from his ICT... Hope he can do it =P

Now am crossing my fingers.. Hope someone changed their appt date and free up any dates between 20th to 22nd.. Then I can change mine... I'll be watching =P

F1 2008... Here we come...

Singapore is holding this year F1 and it is a night race.. We contemplated for a long time whether we wanna go and watch it... Finally, we decided..

Pet went ahead to buy 2 3-day pass tickets. It is at the upper bay grandstand... Was supposed to buy it yesterday but sigh... yesterday system was down.. Managed to grab the tickets this morning.... We will be sharing the tickets with her cos she dun wanna go for final.. Save costs =P

So off we are going to the Final of the world 1st night race and Singapore 1st F1 race... So excited...

V-Day in Office

We celebrated V-Day in office this year.. We had a mini romantic candlelight potluck and a small gift exchange session in our conference room... So cool... So heartwarming...

It's great to have nice colleagues.. So happy working with them =P

Valentine Day 2008

Yesterday was Valentine Day... Heard that our hse is on the way.. So was quite happy until I called my officer and realised that my appt date is held back by the loan dept..Sort of spoil the day for me..

Luckily, there is dear there for me...

We went out for dinner that night.. To Xinwang... One of our fav dining place... Dinner was gd.. We were chit chatting and even "stretched our ears" to hear the conversation of our neighbours.. Can't help it but they were talking too loud.. Conversation was funny too...Both our neighbours are young couples...

Couple 1...
BF : So you like the dinner?
GF : Okie... Not bad.. Can I asked you a question?
BF : Go ahead..
GF : So how do you spent Valentine Day with ur ex-girlfriends?
BF : ..........................

Couple 2...
GF : Wow.. look.. most the pple here are couples on date.
BF : Of course. Today Valentine mah.
GF : Hey, look at the couple behind you. The girl has such a big bouquet of flowers. Why I dun have?
BF : ............................

GF : So, am I good for you? Did i take care of you well?
BF : Okie lar. Not really.
GF : Who says one? Then the last time when you were sick, who is the girl that took care of you?
BF : ...........................

Ha ha ha.. Dear and I could stop laughing... Were we like that in the past? Hmm.. Maybe.... After dinner, we went shopping at Heartland Mall. The place was packed.. The night ended off with some Ah Jie bread and bun...
Though quiet and too many hoo haa.. we spent our valentine day well cos we are tog and we are so in love..

So near yet so far...

Read from the forum that someone at my Blk is collecting their keys on 26Feb... So I called up my Customer Officer (CSO). We hope that she can scheduled our appt to be before 25th cos dear is going for his ICT that week... So for 2 weeks in ICT, dear may have difficulties applying for off days...

Called whole morning yesterday and finally, got to her in the afternoon. CSO informed us that our loan is not yet approved. So can't give us an appt date yet. Huh, keys are ready but loan is not.. So near, yet so far.. CSO promised to chase the loan for us...

I dun really trust govt officer, so i called the loan dept myself.. A lady answered my call and she really pissed me off.. Here's how the conversation goes...

Me : Hi, I'm calling to chk my loan application status.

Loan : I'm sorry to inform you that loan application will take at least 1 to 2 weeks to be processed and approved.

Me : I know. That's why I sent it back as early as 21st Jan. And today is already 14th Feb. 3 weeks passed.

Loan : Oh, I see. Let me chk the system. (After a while...) I'm sorry, but there is no data in the system. I'll take note and asked the officer to expediate for you.

Me : Ok. But can I chk whether you guys in the 1st place received my loan? Since you mentioned that 2 wks is the max for processing the loan and for mine, 3 wks had passed.

Loan : I'm sorry, Ms. I don't know. Why not I'll drop that msg for you and get the officer to call you on the status. Thanks for calling..

Oh my god.. this is how govt works... I'm going to faint... My keys are so near, yet beyond reach...

A step closer to our love nest...

Hurray... we are getting our keys to our love nest soon...

Our applpication status in MyHDB has been updated... This means that the defects are cleared by the contractors.. Yesterday, contractors handed over the keys to HDB.. Now HDB will be arranging the paperworks for us to go down.. Can't wait to get a date...

大年初三 & 大年初四

Spent 初三 & 初四 visiting and catching up with old frenzs...

初三...
This day was our CLDDs CNY gathering day.. It was held at Lin Ling's hse due to her being in the advance stage of pregnancy.. Almost all was present except for Andy who was away.. and Juan who is still on "maternity leave".... Zhenni only dropped by a while to say hello and distribute ang bao... The rest of us stayed on..

This yr, instead of playing blackjack, we decided to play Wii.. It was fun... Guowei and Bihua even "attempted" to "destroy" LL's hse.. One aiming at the sofa and the other at false ceiling.. It was funny.. I tried my hands on Cooking MaMa... Nice game... but need skill.. Shall aim to practice more.. (So dear.. you got the hint??? Ha ha ha)

After dinner, while most pple left, we stayed with Ah Bao to have a mahjong session... Rooster is really lucky when comes face to face with dragons and snakes..Won quite a fair bit that night =P
So happy... I even "cried" out "Huat Ah" in my dreams... Ha ha ha

初四...
Went to Peiling hse for CNY visiting.. Had Sushi and KFC for lunch.. This year, we tried something different.. Had chinese tea during the afternoon.. Not those instant kind but those that need brewing skill one.. Had a gd time at that.. Managed to wash away all the fried oil with the Ooo Long tea... Decided to get one set for our new hse next time too =P

Had our usual mahjong session again... Although rooster has luck this year, but we shld never have all rooster playing at same table.. At yesterday gae, 3 roosters vs 1 snake.. In the end, roosters luck cancelled our one another.. and snake won all the money.. Sigh... Lucky thing is that snake is my hubby... So winning is still into the hse.. Yippe =P

Next CNy gathering will be at dear's colleague, Sam hse on Sunday.. A bit scared abt that day.. the pple called it Asset Reallocation Day... Sigh.. signify another gambling session but this will be an atas one...

May all luck unite in the hands of rooster and snake combined... Cross fingers...
(ha ha ha.. Dear is the only snake there and i'm one of the 2 roosters there... the other rooster is Sam who is our host.. but his wife is a dragon.. so power mzy be cancelled... So pray that we'll have side luck... =P)

大年初一 & 大年初二

Did quite a no of things during the 1st few days of CNY...

初一....
We went to dear's grandma hse.. There, we'll meet up with all the cousins and even those relatives that we'll only get to see once a year... Surprising, I even got ang bao this year.. one from grandma and one from dear's smallest uncle.. There is this moustache uncle who oso gave me an ang bao.. Muz be he had forgotten who I am and since I looked younger, I oso got one... I gave ang bao to the 3 kids of the moustache uncle too.. they all looked at me like i'm alien...muz be they thinking who i am and why i giving them ang bao..

Didn't stay very long this year... Left grandma and went home to rest.. At home, we ordered our 1st Mac delivery... Stipulated time is 1hr 15min but our dinner arrived after 30min.. so fast.. the food is still hot too =P really loved Mac...

After dinner, dear and me set off to my parents place... After that, all of us (ourselves, my parents and my sis) left for marina square.. Going to catch the fireworks.. Dear and I missed it on eve cos our dinner ended late.. The fireworks is so nice.. So happy... After the fireworks, we went for prata at Serangoon Garden.. Both of us went home as a full and happy babies =P

初二...
Not required to go for hse visiting this year cos we upgraded... Considered to be as independent family so no need to tag along with dear parents.. So happy.. Finally able to rest at home... Went to my place for dinner.. After dinner, we played blackjack with my dad and sis... Sis, not very gd with her maths and rules of the games lost quite a fair bit of $$$... But we enjoyed ourselves a lot...

Proceeded to Loyang Da Pek Gong.. After the temple relocated from its seaside venue, we haven visited the place.. So was quite excited to visit the new temple... It was crowded.. Much more spacious than the old one too.. All of us even met friends there... We bought a mini "米缸" from the temple.. Suppose to bring us abundance harvest for the whole year..
