31 Dec 2007….. Counting down to 2008….
We spent our countdown this year outside at Esplanade, watching the beautiful fireworks… My colleagues all told me that I should go early and grabbed a good position on the bridge.. but given that me and dear are 2 lazy bums, we decided not to… instead, we left my mum place at about 10.45pm…
We did the park and ride thingy.. parked our car at Toa Payoh.. went round cheers to bought bottled drinks, then took the train down to Raffles Place.. Initially was thinking which MRT station to alight… city hall or raffles place.. in the end, we chose the latter.. Ours is definitely a better choice.. heard that city hall is packed like pple…
We din bother to squeeze with pple to go right towards the edge of bridge.. instead, we found ourselves a cosy and windy corner, just in front of Fullerton Hotel to catch the fireworks.. as there are not a lot of trees, view of the sky is quite good… we did catch some good firework displays… my colleague went too, early at 8pm… she and her mum wanna to be as close to the water as possible, hence the early wait… she did have some nice photos & video taken of the fireworks display…
When the displays ended, we left.. going back was a disaster.. apparently, the police did not cornered off all the roads.. instead, they limited the pedestrian walking path.. in the end, we had to squeeze with pple to make our way to the mrt station… of course, the squeeze was bad.. at one point, I got so upset that I even started scolding some “ah du”.. they were not in the queue and were simply pushing their way through.. dear got “pissed off and rough” when one attempted to push me.. hmm.. I’m felt so protected =P.. luckily dear is there, or else, I think I’ll become pancake…
There were a lot of foreigners at the count down party this morning… saw lots of ang moh, ah du and ah tiong…. Some can’t even dressed well…. The gals were in super short skirts and low cut tank top… some even came in super high heels… basically they are inviting troubles…either molesting or tripping themselves…. some guys came in shirt + tie… dear was laughing at them… kids loved wearing shirt & tie while adults loved wearing t-shirt or polo-tee… ha ha ha…
On our way back, there was a couple together with us in the big pool of pple, squeezing… the girl is pregnant… oh my god, we felt so worried for her… all the pushing… not a place for her to come for party… dear already said. if I’m pregnant, I’ll only get to stay at home and watched tv…of course, that is oso partly due to me being the clumsy type.. ke ke ke.. we oso saw familes with small kids.. like in lower primary or kindergarden.. think this is not a place for the kids too… they are too small size and will get easily pushed ard in crowd like this.. dangerous…think when we grow older, count down will be less taxing.. and more peaceful =P
Looking forward to the next fireworks display.. maybe during Chinese new year???

Watch collector? Far cry from it...
We bought another watch. This time, it is a Rolex Explorer 1… opps, we spent $$ again.
We had always wanted to get a rolex… that day, while I’m lunching with my colleague, who is a watch collector, he mentioned that watch prices are going to go up in Jan or Feb 2008.. Related the news to dear and we decided to get our very 1st Rolex… a year ago, when KK bought his Rolex, it was abt 5 grand.. 1 year later, when we bought it, the price went up slightly… heard that the % increase is going to be huge this time round.. abt 20%.. so we thought we might as well grabbed it now…
Finally, after much thinking and finance calculating, we went down Orchard on 30th and visited Hour Glass… bought our very 1st Rolex… we took Explorer 1 cos it is quite classy.. and given the size, dear and I could wear it alternatively… loved our new watch a lot..
My colleague welcomed us to the watch collector group.. He defined anyone as watch collector when the number of watches you bought exceed the number of watches that you wear on your hand… of course, the watches do not include those common brand like Casio or Seiko… ha ha ha… But me and dear felt that we are still way behind pple… at least not yet….
Given the price increase now, dun think we’ll be spending on another watch… there are other priorities now.. =P and we are satisfied with our pair of Hublot and our shared Rolex…

Tingyu’s 25th Birthday
My sister, Tingyu’s birthday fell on 29th Dec… We held a mini celebration for her on Sunday cos she went “HAPPYING” with her frenzs at St James… As usual, we bought her a cake and sang her a birthday song…For dinner, we had Canadian pizza and KFC… Canadian pizza is nice.. less oily than Pizza Hut… definitely a good choice for those who preferred healthier food..
The celebration was simple, but cosy… looking forward to the next birthday celebration… my dad’s birthday =P

X'mas Dinner @ Crystal Jade Golden Palace
Had a dinner date on X’mas day with my family and my 5th uncle family from Malaysia… Made reservation for dinner at Crystal Jade Golden Palace at Paragon.. Never went there before, but I know that place is one atas restaurant..
Once inside, I can confirm the place is atas… the deco speaks for itself…
There’s 8 adults and 2 kids, so we took 1 big round table… Ordered the set dinner, with ala carte dish like roasted suckling pig and barbeque pork.. those are yummy.. When the food is served, my jaws dropped even further.. all food served are in single serving…
Here’s what is included in the set : -
- One bowl of fish maw soup
- One plate of abalone with veges
- One plate of prawns
- One plate of Peking duck skin with popian skin
- One plate of fried fish
- One bowl of noodles and lastly,
- One dessert….
Overall, bill cane up to approx S$1,300.. though expensive, but it’s dinner worth while… we spilt the bill with my parents to give my uncle a treat..
After dinner, we visited taka and took some pictures with the big Christmas tree… it’s an different x’mas day spent this year… =P
Next year x’mas, my house would be ready… yeah… so happy… so looking towards it…

What is X'mas without parties???
Had 3 X’mas parties this year but we only chose to go to 2 of them… The one we gave up is that at our auntie’s house on x’mas eve.. Dun like that event cos it’s quite boring.. Usually, we’ll stay at home to collect presents from our auntie.. ke ke ke.. this year, I got a mango bag… quite nice one too… =P
Part 1 : Juan’s Hse
We went to our 1st x’mas party @ Juan Juan’s hse on 23rd Dec... She’s in her very advanced stage of pregnancy.. so dun wan her to move too much.. so we paid her a visit.. Had a potluck dinner, with good food like dim sum (incl fried toufu, char siew pau etc), old chang kee, fried bee hoon, potato wedges and otah… Ended the dinner with sparkling juice + log cake + ice cream cake… yum yum yum…
The 2 babies, Jovin and Justin are around.. However, Justin is not in a very good mood that night, so he kept wailing… As usual, Jovin keeps everybody entertained and we had real good photos taken with her on Juan’s big sofa couch…
Towards end of the night, we had our gift exchange session… we got a wrist cushion and hand moisturer.. going to keep them for our new hse…
Part 2 : Ling’s Hse
We went to Ling’s Hse on X’mas day itself… Ordered in pizza hut for lunch..
We did some catching up among the 4 gals over a game of mahjong… Actually most of the catching up is abt Ah Xia cos she just came back from US… shared some of the experience of booking a banquet, wedding preparation tips and house searching… The 3 hubbies entertained themselves over some uncle talks and boring football games.. ha ha ha… Typical uncle pattern..
We ended the party with mahjong only played until南风 cause I need to rush to another place for a dinner date.. In the end, I won a small margin… ke ke ke… only S$1….. we also had a small gift exchange session.. there are only 7 of us that day, but yet on our 1st pick of the numbers, we manage to get presents of another person (not our own wives or hubbies too)… isn’t the day great… got ourselves some shower gel and a box of chocolate biscuits from Marks & Spencer.. Looking forward to our next mahjong session with them =P

Wedding Bells @ Shangri La
Attended my colleague’s Pat’s wedding at Shangri La recently.. This is the 1st time I attended a wedding dinner at Shangri La… the place was posh… Big ballroom, high ceiling and no pillar to block the way…
There is quite a number of 1st time during that wedding for me…
~ Pat and her hubby has this drawn portrait of themselves…. look like the real thingy…
~ I got a wedding bell for the dinner and the guy sitting beside me got a pair of bears.. 1st time I saw 2 different wedding gifts.. wanna to take the wedding bears oso but in the end, gave the bears to a colleague’s baby girl sitting at same table…
~ There is a live band .. the singer sang all the Chinese oldies.. she had a very nice voice
~ 1st time cod fish is served as part of the banquet.. tasted very nice, just like the one I had at Grand Shanghai.. yummy yummy..
The night ended well .. at least I’m full… May Pat and her hubby have a blissful life always …

X’mas Dinner @ Vienna
My department x’mas dinner was on 14th Dec… it was super early this year cos some of the colleagues would be away for holiday.. Mr Sunshine would be in HongKong and Mabel would be inTaiwan… wanna to include them for the party..
To make sure everyone attend, we even did up a calendar to fix the date.. there was also an unspoken motive behind this date.. Lina bday is on 16th.. we wanted to throw a celebration for her, yet wanna it to be a surprise.. so we decided to make it look like a x’mas celebration… cum bday celebration.. We went to Vienna International Seafood and Teppanyaki Buffet Restaurant at United Square.. the food selection as well as the quality was good..
Food selection include : -
Chinese food - Satay, dim sum, black pepper crab, Black Pepper/ Spicy Crabs, Tim Sum, Oats Prawn, Vegetables, Tofu, Tim Sum, Sharksfin Soup, Buddha Jumps Over The Wall, Herbal soup, etc etc etc
Western delights - Oysters, Crabs, Prawns, Mussels, Lobster Salad, Ham, Roast Beef, etc.
Japanese - Sashimi, Cold Noodles, Sushi, etc
Teppanyaki - Spaghetti, Shisamo, Salmon, Dory, Beef, Lamb, Chicken, etc.
Desserts & Fruits - American Cheese Cake, Blackforest Cake, Mango Passion, Tiramisu, Fudge, etc etc etc
Had really fun time while eating… After dinner, we had our cake cutting session… bought a chocolate log cake from Chocz… the staff there super blur.. when I called and placed order, I left my name there as a booking reference.. the staff wrote my name into the cake.. luckily is only a pc sugar icing and can be removed… then when my colleague collected on behalf, she wanted to make payment but the staff declined, claiming that payment had been made by me when I booked… Ermm, that din happen, so we got a complimentary cake…
After the makan session, we had lots of fun taking pics at the function and with the x’mas trees.. we are like kids.. but it’s worth all the fun and smiles…
